You just know Lucy is a big sister. I came upon this cartoon yesterday and started thinking about Lucy. It's obvious that she is a big sister.. She assumes the mantel of leadership no matter what is going on. She was born first. Get it!
She has seen it all before. She is world weary. Ennui is on her.
She is a bit venal in her goals. Lesser beings owe her obeisance. Or else.
We older big sisters are more subtle. Ahem. We, um, help! This is a grownup form of knowing everything. I mean, I obviously know what is best to fix most things. Don't I?
The less popular parts of being the oldest and a female are like this:
Your parents depend on you, a lot.
They expect you to act adult. Meh.
You aren't expected to need anything to speak of because you are so damn competent.
You feel responsible if something goes wrong, but also like you got away with something you don't deserve if things go right.
Grownup Lucy is a little lost. She needs scope for her powers.
Oh, OK. That was the humor portion. There are some good things about it too. There is nothing bad about being strong, competent, intelligent and interested in those around one. Seems like a girl can remain a Lucy, or get with the program and use her strengths for good rather than evil. Taking initiative can be a good thing, right!
lol!
